About This Game Terroir is a 3D tile-based tycoon game where you manage your very own vineyard. In Terroir, you grow a variety of different grape varietals, craft your wine, and expand and manage your Estate. Start with one plot of land, choose your grapes, then hope the weather is kind. Once the grapes are picked the job's not over, smashing, fermenting, and bottling await. This is a delightful little game. Simple gameplay that are difficult to master.As far as offering a "tycoon" experience - it delivers. It's fun, intuitive (without giving away too many hints) and manages to capture the almost esoteric qualities of honing a good wine. It's made me want to delve into the IRL world of wine.If I had a gripe, it's that I think the UX could use a little more love, and deeper mechanics. With the UI, it isn't always clear where to find things. Other aspects, like getting a loan can be confusing. Buttons lack a hover state. The wine log doesnt contain the reviewers comments. Things like that.And as far as deeper mechanics go... Well, it's a great game. I really enjoy playing it... so.. "I'd love another bottle" as they say. tl; dr; Great game. Delightfully different from other tycoon experiences. Regular price is worth, a sale would be a steal.. I can't wait for this game to be fixed. I can tell this is going to be a game I invest many hours into. It reminds me of Game Dev Tycoon, which is one of my favorite games. The tutorial is perfect, it doesn't hold my hand but it also doesn't leave me staring at my screen with no direction or idea on how to progress. It only took one miserable failure on my first wine to grasp the concept of how to produce a successful wine. EDIT: Bug Fixed!The only reason I stopped playing is because of the game breaking bug that others have mentioned in their reviews. Money doesn't get added to your account. I will definitely be coming back to this game in full force when the issues are addressed.. Fun game but still needs a little work. The weather can drive you crazy hoping for rain then praying for sun shine. But once you get the wine making combo and level 3 I almost always make 5 star wine. Hopefully some more updates will really make this game shine. As I said fun game and lots of management most in real time.Update after playing on hard even when you get to level 3 this game can keep you on your toes by having a bad run of weather a few years in a row. Still really enjoy the game but hopefully putting wine in the tavern can become less mircomanagement.. the dark souls of wine games. This is a very intricate and fun tycoon game about making wine! I highly recommend it for those among you who enjoy simulation games where you manage your product and process. It opens up once you figure out how to make perfect wines, increase profits and afford the expensive upgrades and research. But it can take a while to get there and you're not actually doing a whole lot on the way. I try to pin down the wierd mix of casual but difficult in the full review[oldgrizzledgamers.com]. It's not a full tycoon, management or business sim. Dealing with foilage is really the bulk of the game.Once you do expand the winemaking choices are more interesting but the interface really fights you and becomes clicky and frustrating. The automation tools that are supposed to help don't work well. It's in effect giving a harsh penalty for growth which is the thing that might have kept my interest a bit longer. There's satisfaction in making good wine but for me it's not enough to endure the boring or frustrating parts although I could see why others might like it. Non-recommendation unless you like things very slow paced or are really into wine.
